Grammy Award-winning Gospel star Donald Lawrence has signed a deal for a syndicated radio show  called “Music Therapy with Donald Lawrence.”

Doug Banks Media Group, owned by radio veteran Doug Banks, will distribute Lawrence's first foray into radio when the show launches in January 2015.

“I’m pretty excited about it,” Lawrence said in a statement. “I’ve always been committed to using music as therapy to inspire and encourage as well as to entertain and that’s what the Doug Banks Media Group recruited me to do with this show.”

“Music Therapy with Donald Lawrence” will air on Urban Adult Contemporary radio stations and feature a mix of inspirational music ranging from artists like Jill Scott to Sounds of Blackness.

“There will also be audience call-ins, motivational messages and daily words of wisdom to help listeners live their best life,” Lawrence explained.

The Chicago-based singer/songwriter/producer follows fellow Gospel artists Donnie McClurkin, Yolanda Adams, Dr. Bobby Jones, Dorinda Clark Cole, James Fortune and Earl Bynum, all who have syndicated shows on radio. Lawrence’s show, however, is geared more towards a mainstream audience.

“Donald Lawrence is a very talented and well-respected gospel music industry icon! We are excited go bring his Music Therapy program to radio stations around the country,” said Banks about partnering with Lawrence.

The 53-year-old musician has released 11 albums since making his recording debut in 1993, the most recent being 2013′s “20 Year Celebration, Vol. 1: Best for Last” via eOne Music.

Lawrence has served as spokesman and host for Verizon Wireless’ How Sweet The Sound National Gospel Choir talent competition and tour since 2007.

Congratulations Donald Lawrence.
