Ibadan-based singer-songwriter – John Olumayowa. The singer who doubles as a pastor has released a plethora of music in the last couple of years, all with his trademark message of hope and worship.
For his brand new single titled – “Rise Up”, John Olumayowa says “On a fine Saturday morning, I was led to read Isaiah 60:1. The same passage where I got inspired to write my song “LET IT SHINE” which featured in my album “EFFULGENCE”. The passage made me recall my hard times, my state of hopelessness, and how God’s Superior power rose me up, set me on my feet, and settle me according to 1 Pt 5:10.
The release of this song during this crucial time in Nigeria is to give hope to Nigerian youths who are hoping for a better Nigeria. Also for anyone facing one personal problem or the other.
If there’s ever been a time Nigerians need soothing worship with a message of hope because of despair it is now. In these past weeks especially with the Nigerian youths, things have gone from hopeful during the days of the peaceful protest to gloomy which took a very dangerous turn after the killings of innocent Nigerian youths at Lekki, an incident which is now infamously known as the “Lekki Massacre”. The event followed wanton destruction and vandalization of both public and private properties.
