Marvin Sapp recently revealed some of the mistakes he made and
struggles he has been through while shifting his focus to a new season
in his life. Sapp, a 47-year-old pastor and gospel singer,
took to his Facebook page before his church’s annual consecration that
involves staying off of social media. Before giving up his Facebook,
Twitter and Instagram, Sapp decided to reveal some challenges that he
faced in 2014.
While the singer said he is grateful to have made
it through struggles, he did not shy away from admitting some of his
mistakes and issues that have taken place over the past year.
“I
made many mistakes, hurt individuals who are very important to me,” Sapp
wrote. “I’ve been slandered, stalked, accused, disrespected by people
that I have helped and more. Yet to the best of my ability I maintain my
integrity when I wanted to lose it.”
Still, he spoke about the new year and his intentions to grow.
“It
will be the year of intentional change and by the conclusion of this
year I will be happier, healthier, healed and whole. For 4 1/2 years my
primary focus was to #RepairNPrepare,” he wrote. “Many didn’t understand
nor accept it, however with the help of the Lord I’ve done my personal
best.
Now as I ascended to new levels in the church, every aspect of my
life will go higher as well.”
Sapp has raised his three children as a full-time single father years after his wife died from cancer.
The gospel singer previously spoke about missing his late wife, MaLinda Sapp, who lost her battle with colon cancer in 2010.
“There
are days when I get up and I cry, thinking of her. There are days
thinking of her and I smile,” Sapp told the website. “There are days
when I’m angry, days that I’m not … we miss her.”
Sapp and his wife were the head pastors at Lighthouse Full Life Center Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan, before she passed away.
